Linguistic Testing

Linguistic testers verify translations fully within context as an end user, and resolve linguistic issues introduced during the localization process. Linguistic testers are chosen from experienced translators.

Following the test script, linguistic testers validate the target language application in the target language OS against the source language application in the source language OS environment. A bug-tracking system is used to record the bugs and fixing status. Linguistic testers will:

  Verify that translations are consistent with the glossary and the style guide.
  Verify that all text is translated and that there are no truncations or missing translations.
  Check appropriateness of translations in context.
  Scan text for typographical and grammatical errors.
  Check if any text wrapping or word and line breaking changes need to be made.

WebSite Testing

Website testing and software testing are much alike. Additionally, Websites need to be checked across target browsers. It is the validation of the Website localization. The process is a combination of functional testing and linguistic testing. In general, a Website needs to be tested thoroughly via uploading the content to a private server before being published to the target locale. The appropriate testers check the localized content as the end user would do against the original Web pages.
